Health Care Stabilization Fund
Optional Fund tail coverage and tail coverage surcharge rate information

The Health Care Stabilization Fund does not provide tail coverage for health care providers that have less than five years of Fund compliance.  Note:  Fund compliance periods from a postgraduate program of residency training approved by the Kansas Board of Healing Arts are not included when computing the five year period.  Health care providers with five or more years of Fund compliance are eligible for the continuing coverage without an additional surcharge payment.

The cost of the additional surcharge for the optional Fund tail coverage varies based on the coverage record of each health care provider.  It is also dependent on the surcharge rates and rating procedures in effect at the time when a health care provider becomes an "inactive health care provider".  More information about the term "inactive health care provider" can be found here (use your web browser's BACK button to return to this page).

For health care providers with less than 5 years of Fund coverage and become inactive:

1. BEFORE July 1, 2005
2. On or after July 1, 2005 but before June 30, 2006 -- This will open the Guidelines for the optional fund tail coverage surcharge rates effective July 1, 2005 brochure.  This brochure is in an Acrobat PDF file that you should be able to print from your computer.  If need to have a printed copy mailed to you, please contact our office.
3. On or after July 1, 2006 but before June 30, 2007 -- This will open the Guidelines for the optional fund tail coverage -- July 1, 2006 to June 30, 2007 brochure.  This brochure is in an Acrobat PDF file that you should be able to print from your computer.  If need to have a printed copy mailed to you, please contact our office.
